No pithy observations, nor acerbic commentary. This is the view out my west-facing window. We're very lucky to get to see a brand new sunset every night, even though it's the same old river.

| It's deceptive. Where you can see the river, it's about a quarter-mile wide. |

Wouldn't it be the same sunset because it's the same sun? Regardless, gorgeous photo!
ReplyDeleteHmm, well, yes, we get to see the same sun set. Over and over. But remember Marcus Aurelius's favorite poet, Heraclitus, who said, "No sun ever sets over the same river twice . . . " or something like that, " . . . for it is not the same river, and it is not the same sun." Something to that effect.
ReplyDeleteOr how Pocahontas sang in the Disney movie "you can't step in the same river twice" (this comes to my mind first because I was a child of the 90s raised on animated Disney and not Heraclitus; my parents weren't that cultured). But you bring up a good point. Even though it is the same sun, it's a different sunset pattern every time. - DJ
DeleteWell, I admit to some loose composition there. Hmm...I wonder if Disney wisdom is at all like Roadrunner cartoon physics.
