The 3-Day Post

As you might say Labor Day weekend has officially started, it being Friday night and even if you only got the three-day weekend and not the four-day, here's my Labor Day post. Since I am a retired union member, having been a telephone company employee for 29 years, the holiday highlights something that is actually relevant in my life, unlike, say Christmas, nowadays, or Easter, ever. That is that "level playing field" the corporations are always whining about wanting--when it suits their purpose--and which the unions imposed on the corporations when they said stuff like, we would like to make enough money to have a life somewhat separated from our jobs, and have a day off (or two) so we have time to actually enjoy said life and then actually made the companies agree with them. I see no problem with that.

But I'm not here to rile anybody up. Hope you all have a good weekend, whatever it is you're doing. Rather uninspired post because pain meds. Not to worry.

  1. Hope you feel better. I'm looking forward to a 3-day break from work even though I actually like my job a lot. It's good to chill out...

  2. I'm better already. Lower back spasms etc. which plague me from time to time. Since I am retired, most holidays don't matter much, except my normal routines are upset when everybody else is suddenly "in the way." But my home town here has an annual celebration to do with the three trails that facilitated westward expansion, even though Covid infections make that problematic for those of us who recognize reality.

It is good to hear you like your job. I had a few jobs like that over the course of my lifetime so far, and it is a real plus. At the phone company, if you liked your job assignment too much, you had to be careful not to let anyone know lest they pounce on you and take it away.
